We had a tour with the guide, Tim. He picked us up at 8am and drove us to Matanuska Glacier in a clean and comfortable van. On the two-hour drive, we could enjoy a beautiful scenic view surrounding us, and Tim shared wish us interesting stories and facts about the nature here with extensive knowledge—And he already prepared snacks and bottles of water inside the van, which we enjoyed as well. Once we arrived the glacier, Tim offered us full ice equipment—helmets, ice cleats—and a brief on safety instructions. (Though we speak English, he even printed out a paper of instructions in Korean just in case that we don't speak English, showing that he's friendly towards any guest from the world.) We walked on the glacier SURFACE for 1.5 hours with his explanations of the terrain, which was one of the most amazing experiences I had in Alaska. The loop was easy and safe to walk, with Tim taking care of our safety all the time. After the walk, we had a lunch at Long Rifle Lodge which was 10mins drive from the glacier. We had delicious menus—a blueberry taco (Tim told us that blueberries are ripe in late summer in Alaska) and a burger—that were covered in the tour. Then we were driven to and dropped off at the hotel. I thank Tim a lot for all the enjoyment we had during the trip, and I'd definitely like to join WINTER adventures in Alaska with you, next time we visit Alaska again. + Your red-tinted glasses were so stylish. Where did you get them?

This glacier tour was easily one of the most incredible experiences of my life. What made it even more special — we were the first group out there and had the glacier completely to ourselves for the first hour. Standing on a massive field of ancient ice in total quiet was surreal and honestly hard to put into words. Our guide, Bill, was fantastic and super knowledgeable. He shared so much about how the glacier formed, how it moves, and how it’s changing over time, all in a way that was easy to understand and genuinely interesting. He also made sure everyone felt safe and confident walking on the ice, which made the experience both exciting and comfortable. Walking across the glacier felt like stepping onto another planet. The deep blue ice, meltwater streams, and huge ice formations were unbelievable in person — pictures just don’t capture it. Having that peaceful, crowd-free time at the beginning made it even more magical. Everything was well organized from start to finish. They provided all the necessary gear, including ice spikes for our boots, which made walking on the glacier feel secure and stable. Lunch was included, which was a great touch and gave us time to relax and really take in the scenery. If you’re visiting Alaska, don’t even hesitate — book the glacier tour. It’s a bucket-list experience you’ll remember forever.

We've taken several tours with Greatland over the course of two trips. On our first trip, we booked the Northern Lights tour. Based on the days you're in town, they'll pick the best day to go out. They picked us up in a heated van and took us far out of the city to better our chances of seeing the lights. Based on that experience we ended up booking a glacier hiking tour on the same trip. Again, great experience and knowledgeable guides. We came back to explore Alaska in the summer and booked a kayaking glacier tour. We lucked out and it was just us on this tour. The guides were helpful and down to earth. Highly recommend checking out Greatland for one of their many tours.

We booked the glacier kayak tour for early September, and it was amazing! From the drive to the train station, the train ride and the kayaking part, everything was well planned and our guide, Tim, gave us a lot of information all throughout the experience. Would definitely consider them again next time we'll visit Alaska!

Chris was a fantastic guide! We had a private Northern Lights experience and he pulled out all the stops! It wasn't looking very hopeful for a good show, but he found a spot with good visibility, and once the clouds cleared, his aurora software showed a spike in activity, and with some patience (and hot water to keep warm!) they made a showing!! Although you can't predict the weather or when the aurora will make a showing, the Greatland Adventures Team did a fantastic job keeping our group in the loop about forecasting, flexibility, and making sure we had all the information we needed to make informed decisions. Thanks!!

We had the most amazing kayaking trip to Spencer Glacier with Greatland Adventures! Our driver and guide, Dana, was incredible—she knew so many fascinating facts about every place we passed on the drive and made the journey just as fun as the destination. She went above and beyond to make sure we were having the best time and truly helped make our Alaska dreams come true. The entire experience was seamless, unforgettable, and so much fun. I highly recommend Greatland Adventures for any of your Alaska adventures—you won’t regret it!

Completed the Matanuska Glacier tour and Northern lights tour with my mom! Both were incredible, tour guide Sean(glacier) and Dana (northern lights) were equally as good as the other! Sean shared so many facts, so much knowledge. Not only about the glacier but about his life adventures while in alaska. We had a perfect view for lunch, and he took us to the coolest spots in the glacier. Dana was amazing for the northern lights tour. Her energy and excitement was contagious. She made sure we could get some really cool shots with the lights and shared so many interesting facts as well as her time in alaska doing outdoor activities. We loved every moment of both activities and would recommend it to anyone visiting anchorage alaska

We went on the Matanuska Glacier tour today and it was absolutely spectacular. The scenery alone was breathtaking, but what truly made the experience special was our guide, Sean. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the entire tour feel both safe and memorable. His passion for the glacier and the area really came through, and he created memories we’ll cherish forever. Highly recommend this tour — and if you can, ask for Sean!

We went on the Matanuska Glacier Tour for Valentine's 2026 and it was absolutely the best plan we could have made. Bill was our guide and from the start it was a very pleasant experience. He picked us up from our hotel at exactly the time he had informed us, the van was very comfortable and he told us a lot about Alaska, Anchorage and of course the magnificent Matanuska Glacier!! He was an excellent guide, he knew all the amazing spots in the glacier and explained the science behind it too! We arrived early enough that we were only the second group to arrive that day and we had plenty of time to explore the glacier, take pictures and even have a taste of the glacier! It was perfect all around and then he took us to a restaurant for lunch that was nearby and had a beautiful view of the glacier and the mountains. I would 100% recommend anyone to take this tour and not worry about driving and only focus on enjoying the views on the way there!
